Let’s Talk Hair x Rickylee Taylor!
Hi there lovelies,
I hope you are all doing well and keeping safe! Today I am coming at you with a really fun piece, more of a collaboration with an amazing woman, Rickylee Taylor! Rickylee is an amazing hairstylist from Just Peachy Hair based in Claremont! Now if you are looking for a salon in Cape Town I would 100% recommend them, I’ll definitely be going back when the time is right. I’m sure many of you know I got a balayage a month or so ago and I got it done at Just Peachy by Rickylee and I was impressed and grateful to have a hairdresser that actually listened to me. So, I decided that I would introduce you all to this amazing woman, so you could find out more about her haircare routines and some of her favourite tips & tricks!

Rickylee’s Routine and Advice:
Curly hair always lacks moisture so it’s always good to have a really hydrating regime for your hair . I would start off with a Maxi wash From Kevin Murphy it’s a detoxing shampoo that you would use once a week it’s amazing for removing product buildup as us curly hair gals live to put product . Secondly I would definitely have the smooth.again wash and rinse of Kevin Murphy to help smooth out the frizz while keeping your curls still light and curly , definitely my go to after product is the leave in repair by Kevin Murphy aswell ,to scrunch in my hair so I know it’s a lovely treatment while enhancing my curls . Every curly hair girl has her tips and tricks but this is definitely my favorite!

So, I asked Rickylee a few questions and these were her personal answers!
1. What products do you recommend when using any sort of styling tools?
Heat protection always, GHD has an amazing heat protector, GHD also has a great curl hold spray that you use on dry hair after you blowdry.
2. What is your secret to getting curls / waves to hold and not drop?
Make sure when you curling the hair you use a steady gliding motion and jot too quick as little heat will make the hair drop quicker, a curl hold spray before also really helps for fine hair.
3. What would your main tip be when it comes to curling hair with a straightening iron instead or a curling wand, etc.
A steady motion , twist the hair once with a GHD iron and glide down , not to try and keep twisting while moving.
4. What is your take on hair oils?
Hair oils are amazing specially the olaplex no: 7. Oils should only be used after heat application as oils will make your hair burn and cause damage.
5. What is the your favourite treatment at the moment and why?
Favorite treatment is definitely the microkeratin. As it takes out all the frizz in the hair lasts up to 3 months and makes the hair feel amazing, it does not remove all curl but does take them down.
6. What is your favourite hair makeover you’ve ever done before?
Hair make over definitely giving my client the blue balayage of her dreams!
7. A few tips and tricks on how to straighten your hair properly and what products or type of products you would recommend to someone that wants to get their hair as straight as possible!
Heat protector is a big just with either a blowdry cream or spray, blowdry your hair straight first and make sure the hair is completely dry through out, section the hair in horizontal sections no wider than two fingers . Apply an oil after straightening to lock in the moisture.
8. What are some of your go to haircare products of all time can be any products, anything just leave it all below!
